Online therapist for men in recovery in Florida and Maine

You got sober. Something still needs attention.

For men in recovery who are sober and stable but still dealing with anxiety, old trauma, or reactions they want to change.

You’ve done the work. Something is still stuck.

You got sober. It wasn’t easy, but you did it. Maybe you found a program, rebuilt some of what you lost. You’re not in crisis. You’re functioning. There’s a lot about your life that you love, and you’re grateful for that.

But anxiety shows up. You react in ways you don’t want to. You notice that you’re often more frustrated than you'd like to be. Old stuff affects your relationships. You feel tense. Sometimes you wonder if you’re not working your program enough.

But that’s not it. You just need some additional help. It can be hard to ask for help, but you’ve done it before. That’s how you got this far.

I help men in recovery who got sober but still feel something unresolved finally process what's underneath so recovery feels complete.

With therapy, we can address what’s happening, in a way that works with your recovery, and help you fully have the life you’re hoping for.

Shimon Cohen, LCSW online therapist in Florida and Maine for trauma, anxiety and addiction

Hi, I’m Shimon

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

I get it. I’ve been in recovery myself for 22 years. I’m also a highly trained clinician. I combine these experiences to help guys like you.

Clients tell me working with me feels different from what they thought therapy would be, or different from therapy they’ve tried before.

I know what it’s like to be in recovery and still have stuff that needs attention. I also know that therapy, the right kind, can help get you the rest of the way there.

I spent over 15 years working across community mental health, schools, and university settings. I use EMDR to process what’s stuck, and ACT to build real tools for living differently going forward.

I’m warm, direct, and easy to talk to. I also don’t BS. Sometimes what we talk about will feel good, but other times it will be challenging. The goal is to work through whatever is going on for you so that you can truly feel “happy, joyous, and free.”
